My passion is photojournalism so I decided to take my camera with me to DPP's EB at the Manila Golf Club last April 5. Told some stories here for the sake of those who couldn't make it and for the sake of those whose memories fade quicker than they wish.

 | Kudos also to Nick's main man, Nino Carandang, who, I suspect, had a big hand in logistics behind this most successful EB. Most importantly, he took care of the prize giving, and threw water bottle give-aways to everyone who asked questions. He almost hit me in the noggin when he threw one at me after I asked the first question. |
 | Scott "Gutsy" Tuason, started the talks with his 'lecture' on underwater photography. Ain't no big money in it in this country so you got to be passionate about it.
|
 | Wawi Navaroza, who gave us much food for thought with her Fine Art photography.
|
 | Wig Tysman's slide show was amazing as we saw photo after photo that we had earlier seen in magazines, newspapers, billboards, ads, etc.
|
 | Koya Derick comtemplating Wig Tysman's presentation. You can make out the slide show's reflection on his glasses. |
 | Nick enjoying the fruits of his labor (and Wig Tysman's talk). But what are the guys in the back looking at. |
 | Maestro Sam Molina showing us how to critique photos.
|
 | Nicky... the member with the most questions for that evening :) |
 | Pilar Tuason, Wedding Master |
 | "I had my tripod in the water up to here," said landscapist Jay Jallorina. Joke lang, Jay. Thanks for the interesting talk. Learned a lot. |

 | Since Unkel Basil said he was in a much better mood after he won the Western Digital 160GB Passport, let me commemorate that occasion. |
 | And now a word from our sponsors.
Western Digital was supposed to give away one hard drive but ended up giving away two. Maybe because they did so much business.
Take note, potential sponsors, DPP forum members have a lot of cash! (I'll take my commission now, boss Nick.)
Unkel Basil took home the first 160 GB Passport raffled out to all the attendees, while Rey Baptista won the second, which was raffled only to those who bought WD stuff.
|
 | Here's Andy, distributor of WD, eyeing Bebet's money.
Thanks for the great prices, Andy, and don't forget to contact me when the new stuff arrives! |
 | Cocoy Paguio (right) came all the way from Iloilo to catch the EB. I think he came straight from the airport. Francis Perfecto is on the left listening intently. |
 | The wonderful Grecian profile of Kharu. |
 | Dids Consing, Panay Digital Shooter's (formerly Team Panay) Muse and Mascot.
|
 | Edilbert Corsame in one of his model poses.
|
 | Nikki Guitarte going to get her Canon shirt. But doesn't she shoot Nikon? :)

 | Carlo Cabral and Abu Magbanua listening to Edilbert making a point. |
 | Me and the wifey happy that I won a Canon shirt, too! Thanks to Manette, the bazooka lady, for taking this shot. |
 | And for our next raffle, the Mountainsmith (worth 7,000p)! |
 | Derick Gamboa pulled out his own name from the bowl to win the raffle for Mountainsmith. He gave it back allowing someone else to win it!
Hip hip hurray, Koya Derick!
|
 | And here is the peanut gallery applauding Dericks give-back decision. Thanks to Jason Mirables for putting the orange numbers in and identifying half of the people here. :)
DPP old-timers will know that the remarkable Ricky Ladia almost always hides his face from photographers. That's him up there with the cap.
Sorry for the narrow depth-of-field as I had my lens open wide at f2.8 to compensate for the lack of light.
1. Mic Narra 2. Allan Michael 3. Marlon Adsuara 4. Al Gonzales 5. Willy Palacios 6. Francis Perfecto 7. Cocoy Paguio 8. Edilbert Corsame 9. Daphne Oliveros 10. Abu Magbanua 11. Carlo Cabral 12. Ricky Ladia 13. Melwyn Alapag the other #13, hidden behind Melwyn is Nino Estrada.
It was fun posting this photo on the DPP thread and people filled in who was who. Great way of finding out who is who. |
 | Photo critic Sam Molina wins the Mountainsmith that Derick gave back.
Congratulations, Professor! |
 | Randall Cipriano and Lloyd San Diego listening while Jake laughs. Is ?? checking out the girl behind? |
 | Orly and Ruben Orig while waiting for the talks to start. |
 | Posted this photo of Gutsy's underwater gear for Dan Pagulayan. I said, "Shall we call it, 'o Dream, the Impossible Dream?'"
Dan replied: "More of BANGUNGOT
Here's my guess of the cost rundown for that setup: 1. Main Housing: P175,000 2. Lens Port: P30,000 3. Arms (2 sets): P50,000 4. Strobes (2 units): P50,000 5: Strobe connectors (2-way): P10,000
Man, with that budget, I could buy a top-of-the-line Nikon or Canon body already!!!!"
|
| panget wala ako! Nyahaha!! Joke! nice meeting you sir.winston! Canon eh'!

 | Nikon image model revisited. Nice smile Unkol Basil. :) |
 | Scraping the bottom of the barrel now with my OOF photos. hehe. Here's Dan and my old pal from college days, Bernie, using Filter Gallery/Colored Pencil.
Funny, someone from flickr thought that Dan was a mirror image of Bernie. hehehe |
 | Hi. Real cool Gallery. I had a laugh going thru ur captions. Sana one day I will be worthy to attend gatherings like this :) |
 | Wow, Clavel. Thanks for resurrecting this gallery! I'm sure you're worthy to attend. All you need is a DPP subscription. :) |
